Competition in 5 mega pixel imaging segment intensifies as Samsung reveals the G800

Samsung has unveiled its second 5 mega pixel camera phone. The G800 is an evolution of the G600 which was announced in July, adding HSDPA and a broad range of hardware and software specifications including optical zoom (the first camera phone in Western Europe to include this capability).
Features include:
- GSM 900 /1800 / 1900
- 3G WCDMA / HSDPA 3.6Mbps
- 262K colour display with QVGA resolution
- 5 mega pixel camera with 3x optical zoom, xenon flash
- Imaging features including wide dynamic range (WDR), face detection, mobile blogging / upload support, video editing software
- 160MB internal memory
- MicroSD expansion slot
The G800 is expected to ship in early to mid November and will compete alongside a total of five other devices in the 5 mega pixel camera phone segment including the Nokia N95, N95 8GB, Samsung G600, Sony Ericsson K850i and LG KU990 Viewty.
