Video and mobile TV poised to grow as mobile broadcast solutions are assessed

At the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Nextwave (formerly IP Wireless) announced a six month commercial trial for TDtv with Orange and T-Mobile in the UK.

Orange has conducted TDtv trials in the past, but on this pilot will collaborate with T-Mobile. The two mobile network operators will jointly share the UMTS TDD frequencies as well as infrastructure to better assess the commercial viability of this proposition. The pilot will be conducted in West/Central London with 24 channels available (10 available to both, with 7 exclusively available to each of the two mobile network operators).
