News:

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has barred the importation of mobile phones, PDA and PC cards using Qualcomm 3G WCDMA or CDMA EV-DO chips or chipsets that have been ruled to infringe a US patent held by Broadcom. The exclusion order only affects new models and does not apply to phones being imported for sale to the general public on or before the date of the order, June 7th 2007. If unchallenged this ruling will come into effect 60 days after the order was made.

Qualcomm has stated that it is “extremely disappointed” by the decision. Qualcomm plans to ask the US Federal Circuit Court of Appeals to stay enforcement of the ITC's order and ask the US President to veto the ITC's decision.
