On 25 May 2011 BT Wholesale and Everything Everywhere announced they would collaborate to trial Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in South Newquay, Cornwall, in the UK. The companies plan to share fixed and mobile infrastructure using two 10 MHz tranches of test spectrum in the 800 MHz band. Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks will provide technological support. The trial will start in September and last until early 2012. A total of 100 mobile and 100 fixed-line customers will be selected to participate in the trial, which will cover an area of about 25 square kilometres.
