Truly Unlimited Music Services Draw Closer As Vodafone Drops DRM

On 11 March 2009, Vodafone announced it would remove digital rights management (DRM) protection from tracks available through its music stores. It has signed agreements with three of the "big four" record companies — Universal Music, Sony Music and EMI — and will offer more than 1 million DRM-free tracks from these labels in 25 markets. Once downloaded, tracks can be played on any device, without licence restrictions.
