On 18 May 2009, Norwegian Mobile TV Corporation (NMTV) launched MiniTV, a mobile TV service in Norway, using Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) technology. MiniTV is a joint venture between Norway's three largest broadcast networks: public broadcaster NRK, TV 2 and Modern Times Group. Viewers in the Greater Oslo area can receive six free-to-air channels (NRK1, NRK2, NRK3, TV 2, TV 2 News 24 and Viasat TV3) and 15 DAB radio channels. NMTV's DMB licence is valid until July 2011 and might be extended further if the service proves successful.
