On 15 January 2010, Nokia issued a concept proposal for the user interface in Symbian^4 to the platform's community. The proposal utilises Qt-based Orbit libraries and the Direct UI paradigm.
The concept presents a fundamental change to the user-interface logic of Symbian S60 with the aim of simplifying the S60 user experience. The proposal has been submitted as a preliminary vision and its authors encourage open discussion and evaluation. Although it does not represent a final representation of the Symbian^4 user interface, it demonstrates the priorities, focus areas and proposed solutions to the challenges inherent in evolving S60's user interface.
