On 16 July 2009 the Symbian Foundation announced a new application publishing program called Horizon. The initiative offers developers assistance in creating, marketing, distributing and generating revenue from Symbian applications.
The initiative positions the Symbian Foundation as a single point of distribution to a number of different mobile software and content stores. Horizon supports Nokia's Ovi Store, Samsung's Applications Store and AT&T's Media Mall at present. Horizon is currently in development with several companies, including Dynatech, The Guardian, MobileIron, National Public Radio, Skout, Ustream and Wine.com. General availability is scheduled for October 2009.
