Sun Microsystems follows the SavaJe acquisition with the launch JavaFX Mobile

Following Sun Microsystems acquisition of the assets of mobile Java platform company SavaJe in April (See CCS Insight Hotline 16-2007: Sun Microsystems acquires SavaJe but intentions remain unclear), Sun has clarified its intentions by announcing JavaFX Mobile. JavaFX Mobile forms part of a family of Java based technology products under the JavaFX brand aimed at helping content and application developers create and deploy rich Internet applications to run on a range of Java powered clients.

With the announcement of JavaFX Sun has introduced JavaFX Script, a new scripting language designed to enable Java developers to quickly and efficiently create a range of content rich applications that can be used on a wealth of client devices including desktops, mobile phones, set top boxes and Blu-ray disks. JavaFX Mobile directly utilises the assets from the SavaJe acquisition by providing a complete mobile phone software solution that affords a complete operating and application environment.
