Sky Goes in Search of New Viewers with Online On-Demand Service

On 31 January 2012, BSkyB, which operates the satellite-based Sky TV service, announced plans to launch an online video-on-demand service during the first half of 2012. The offering will initially focus on films but will also include programming such as sports and entertainment. The company has not provided details of prices, but users will be offered unlimited access to Sky Movies for a flat monthly fee or the option to rent individual films. There will be no minimum-term contract.
