RIM Makes Three Bold Announcements

Research In Motion (RIM) used its Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2008 event, held in Orlando, Florida from 13 to 15 May, as the forum for three significant announcements:
- It unveiled the BlackBerry 9000 Bold device, featuring HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS. The device has a similar form factor to the BlackBerry Curve, with a full qwerty keyboard. The Bold is scheduled to be available in summer 2008.
- In partnership with RBC and Thompson Reuters, RIM announced the BlackBerry Partners Fund. This is a $150 million venture capital fund to be invested in developing mobile applications and services for BlackBerry and other platforms.
- RIM and Microsoft have signed an agreement that puts Windows Live services on BlackBerry devices. Services are scheduled to start in summer 2008.
