On 29 July 2009, UK network operator Orange launched Monkey, a prepaid tariff that offers users access to streaming music on mobile phones and PCs. The package is aimed at 16- to 24-year-olds, with content provided by Universal Music and Channel 4. The music service is funded by adverts sent through text messages. Users must top up at least £10 every month. To access music on their mobile phone, users dial 247. They are presented with a choice of eight preset play lists, such as rock, pop and chart music. They can also listen by logging into a page on Orange's Web site.
