Nokia's Ovi Has Promising Blueprint, But Needs More Groundwork

On 28 August 2008, Nokia's Ovi Web site made public a set of functions that allow users to create accounts and then synchronise data on Nokia phones with the Web site. Tagged as a beta release, the suite of functions includes the ability to copy a phone's calendar, contacts, notes, tasks and photos to a secure area on the site as well as a PC. The site also allows users to synchronise files between a PC and Ovi. The new functions join others already offered by Nokia, such as Nokia Maps, Nokia Music, N-Gage and Share on Ovi.
