Nokia turns up the heat in IPR battle with Qualcomm

Nokia Qualcomm legal dispute

Nokia’s CFO made the following statements during the call:

  • Nokia has invested over €25 billion in IPR to date
  • Nokia has over 11 thousand patent families
  • Nokia is a “world leader in multiple wireless technologies” - Simonson identified the following technologies in this context: GSM, EDGE, W-CDMA, HSPA, WiMAX, LTE, TD-SDCMA and CDMA2000
  • Nokia has more than 250 essential patents in GSM
  • Nokia has 350 patents in W-CDMA
  • 20 percent of Nokia’s patent portfolio is standards related and in broad use by competitors
