Nokia BL-5C

News:

Nokia has issued a product advisory for its BL-5C Nokia branded battery manufactured by Matsushita Electronics. The advisory applies exclusively to 46 million BL-5C batteries manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006 by Matsushita Electronics. Nokia has advised customers to monitor batteries covered by the advisory while charging and have pledged to replace the BL-5C batteries in question. Nokia emphasises that the advisory does not constitute a full product recall but will replace batteries subject to the advisory upon customer requests.

The product advisory was made following approximately 100 incidents where batteries were reported to have short circuited and overheated during charging causing the battery to dislodge. No damage or injury is understood to have been caused by the malfunction.
