Nokia Launches X3 Touch and Type as Rival Devices Pile on Pressure

On 17 August 2010, Nokia launched its X3 Touch and Type phone. It runs Series 40 6th Edition, the new touch-screen version of Nokia's midrange operating system. The device is primarily a music phone, aimed at people who have fairly heavy Internet usage. It has 16 keys (12 numeric keys plus send, end, music and messaging) as well as a 2.4-inch resistive touch screen with a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. It sports a five-megapixel camera, quad-band 3G and HSPA, Wi-Fi and a brushed aluminium case, and is 9.6mm thick. It comes preloaded with e-mail, instant messaging and social networking clients. It will ship at the end of September 2010 and is expected to retail for €125 before taxes.
