Miles Flint, the President of Sony Ericsson, is to leave the company. From November 1st 2007 he will be replaced by Hideki “Dick” Komiyama currently Chairman of the Board of Sony Electronics Inc., USA, and EVP Electronics Marketing and Sales Strategies of Sony Corporation, Japan. Mr. Komiyama will be based at Sony Ericsson’s global headquarters in London.
It is believed that Mr. Flint is stepping down for personal reasons and he continues to have a good relationship with the company. This is reflected in the fact that Flint will remain as Executive Advisor to Mr. Komiyama until the end of December 2007. In the press release accompanying the news of his departure Mr. Flint stated that he “intended to take a short career break before deciding on [his] next steps” which include “developing new personal and business opportunities”.
