NTT DoCoMo, the leading network operator in Japan by subscribers, has reported that its net profit declined dramatically year on year.
Key reasons for this decline were cited as intensifying competition from rivals to attract and maintain customers as well as additional infrastructure costs to support its 3G W-CDMA FOMA service.
It should be noted that another factor in this sharp decline was the fact that previous results had been boosted by the sale of shares in Hutchison’s 3G UK venture and KPN Mobile.
