Mobile Instant Messaging Won't Eat Into Text Message Revenue

On 3 November 2008, Vodafone launched its Vodafone Messenger application in Germany. It allows simultaneous use of three instant message (IM) services on mobile phones: ICQ, Windows Live and Yahoo Messenger. Access to the service is free until the end of January 2009. After then it will cost €4.95 a month. Vodafone Germany joins several European network operators that have recently started to offer mobile IM services.
