Mobile Broadband Growth in the US Waits on Even Lower Pricing

CCS Insight recently completed a forecast model for connected netbooks in the US. The model used mobile broadband access pricing as a primary determinant of demand for connectivity across all device types, including embedded and dongle-based connections.

We examined historical tariff and subscriber data for mobile broadband access in the US and selected European markets. The relationship between changes in access tariffs and changes in subscriptions was used to determine the price elasticity of demand for "unlimited" mobile broadband access at tariff levels of $60 and $40 per month.
