Microsoft and Qualcomm announce plan to co-operate on smartphones

Qualcomm has announced that it will build support for the Windows Mobile operating system into its next generation of chipsets. This should reduce the time to market and cost associated with delivering Microsoft based smartphones. The chips will start shipping in the second half of 2006 and products using them should appear in the first half of 2007.
