Market Prepares for Wave of Tablets Riding on Apple's iPad Success

On 22 June 2010, Apple announced it had sold 3 million iPads in the 80 days since its launch in the US on 3 April. This updated the previous figure of 2 million units which was revealed at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco on 7 June. The company also announced that over 11,000 iPad-specific applications are now available.
In separate news, Huawei officially unveiled its SmaKit S7 tablet, featuring Android 2.1, a seven-inch resistive 800 x 480-pixel display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 768 MHz processor, 3G HSDPA, 256MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, microSD slot and two-megapixel camera. The S7 is available for pre-orders in selected markets including the UK, with availability scheduled for early July.
