Mapping and Navigation Show the Way Ahead for Service Providers

On 5 June 2008, media reports suggested that the European Commission will clear Nokia's bid for mapping data company Navteq. Last month the Commission approved the takeover of mapmaker TeleAtlas by TomTom, which makes stand-alone navigation aids and software for mobile devices. Nokia expects to sell 35 million GPS-equipped phones in 2008 and to put GPS in half its phones by 2012.
