Joggler and Family Services Aim to Put O2 at the Heart of Every Home

On 5 March 2009, UK mobile network operator O2 made a suite of announcements targeted at families:

  • O2 Joggler: a new non-cellular device with a seven-inch touch screen, the Joggler will cost £150 and be available in early April 2009.

  • O2 Calendar: this is a Web-based service, hosted by O2 and available to anyone. Entries are synchronised with the O2 Joggler, and can be checked and updated by SMS, the Web and the Joggler itself. The service can send text reminders to O2 subscribers.

  • A new family-friendly tariff Bolt On, known as Your Family, will allow up to five O2 subscribers flat-rate voice, text and picture message communications.

At the same time, O2 announced the creation of a new role, head of families. The first holder of this post is Sharon Pickford, who was promoted from within the company.
