Intel Needs More Than Ultrabooks to Counter the ARM Threat

The Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2011 took place in San Francisco from 13 to 15 September. The event did not feature any major product or partnership announcements, though it did offer updates on Intel's Core processor road map as well as some significant technical and market-development initiatives.

As in previous years, the event also provided a platform for Intel executives to update developers, customers, partners, analysts and the media on the company's vision and strategy. Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini, began his opening-day speech by focusing on the fundamental transformation of computing as a major theme of this year's event.
