Integrated Mobile Broadcast Brings Hope to Weak Mobile TV Market

On 21 June 2010, O2, Orange and Vodafone announced an initiative to jointly trial Integrated Mobile Broadcast (IMB), a 3GPP standard technology for mobile broadcast and data services. The three-month trial will take place in central London and Slough, starting in October 2010. The trial will include the delivery of live video streams and offloading traffic from 3G networks. Ericsson, IPWireless and Streamezzo will provide the technology, while LG will provide modified KS20 handsets that will incorporate IMB for the trial.
