US president Barak Obama has nominated Julius Genachowski to chair the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Genachowski served as a top technology advisor on the Obama campaign. He succeeds another Obama appointee, acting chairman Michael Copps, who had filled the post following the resignation of Republican chairman Kevin Martin on 20 January 2009.
