HP Acquires Palm and Bets on webOS for Mobile Device Success

HP announced its intention to acquire Palm on 28 April 2010. Its offer of $5.70 per share values the company at $1.2 billion and will be subject to regulatory approval. It is expected to be finalised by the end of July 2010. HP cited Palm's webOS platform, "significant intellectual property assets" and "highly skilled" team as the key reasons for the acquisition.
