Google's Android 2.2 Froyo Will Worry Rivals and Partners Alike

On 20 May at the Google I/O 2010 conference in San Francisco, Google announced Android 2.2. Code-named Froyo (for "frozen yoghurt"), the latest version of the Android platform offers several new features. They include portable Wi-Fi hot-spot functions, improvements to the browser, including support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, changes to Android Market, new enterprise capabilities and a range of new application programme interfaces (APIs). Developers can download the software development kit immediately, and the new version of the platform will be available to manufacturers and the open-source community in the coming weeks.
