Event Report: Nokia World, December 2007

News:

Nokia held its annual strategy event in Amsterdam which was attended by over 3000 delegates. It was also an opportunity for Nokia to offer more details about its vision for Ovi, as further insights were revealed into how the platform will be implemented.

Key announcements included:

  • An agreement with Universal Music Group (UMG) to offer the “Comes with Music” service. This service will allow users unlimited music downloads during a 12 month period – at the end of this time the users will “own” the tracks.
  • Telecom Italia Mobile’s (TIM) decision to support Ovi. Nokia will customise a range of new Nokia handsets for TIM which will provide access not only to TIM’s branded service offering, but also to Ovi.
  • Eco Phone: Nokia launched the 3110 Evolve, a device with bio-covers produced from more than 50 percent renewable material.
