On 14 to 16 September 2010, Intel held its annual developer forum (IDF) in San Francisco. The event was host to a record attendance of 6,500 people from 60 countries. Beyond announcements of new hardware, Intel communicated its vision for the delivery of seamless experiences across a range of connected devices. This included the general release of Intel's AppUp Center for Atom-based netbooks in partnership with Best Buy, Dixons in the UK and Croma Electronics in India, in addition to a manufacturer-level agreement with Asus.
Hardware announcements included the launch of the second generation of Intel's Core processor family for laptops and desktops (code-named Sandy Bridge) and two new additions to the Atom processor range — the E600 and CE4200. Intel also unveiled Oak Trail, another Atom-based solution optimised for tablets, with availability scheduled for early 2011.
