News:
Danish distributor Dangaard Telecom is to merge with US-based Brightpoint. Based on figures from the end of 2006 the combined company sold 64 million mobile phones (approximately 53 million from Brightpoint and 11 million through the Dangaard operations) with a turnover of approximately $4.6 billion. The two companies have a combined workforce of more than 3,100 employees.
Dangaard’s CEO Steen Pedersen stated that he believes the merger creates some tremendous opportunities – not least in the European market where he hopes that Dangaard’s position will be further strengthened as Brightpoint’s Finnish, Slovakian and Russian operations are added.
The corporate headquarters for the new business will be at Brightpoint's US offices in Indiana with Dangaard's European headquarters in Denmark being retained.
