Carphone Warehouse has launched Talkmobile, a service offering low-cost, short term contracts with bundles of voice minutes and texts. Carphone Warehouse is aiming the new service at customers who regularly spend more than £15 per month on top-ups. It is offering shorter term contracts than rival networks (where 18 month contracts are increasingly common) and hopes to attract some of the estimated 4.5 million higher-spending pre-paid customers.
Talkmobile offers bundles for £12, £15 or £18 per month, on 9, 12 or 18 month contracts. Fourteen handsets are available from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and Sony-Ericsson with bigger discounts on longer contract terms.
Talkmobile runs on the Vodafone network and will be sold alongside Carphone Warehouse’s existing prepay service Fresh which uses the T-Mobile network.
