Business As Usual for Sony Ericsson Joint Venture in the Short Term

On 23 March 2009, Ericsson reiterated its commitment to the joint venture with Sony by insisting it has no plans to divest its stake in Sony Ericsson. Speculation has escalated in recent weeks, fuelled by a profit warning issued on 20 March. Sony Ericsson warned that it expected a 37 percent decline in handset shipments to 14 million units in 1Q09, accompanied by sequential and year-on-year declines in gross margins.
