On 28 September 2011 Amazon introduced four new Kindle devices. The Kindle Fire is the flagship device in this family of new products. Priced at $199, the Android-based Kindle Fire will be available in the US from 15 November 2011. The company also announced Amazon Silk, a cloud-accelerated Web browser that is a cornerstone feature of the Kindle Fire.

The other new Kindle devices are similar to the existing line-up. They all feature e-ink screens. A new basic model introduces the Kindle's lowest price tag, $79; the remaining two new models feature touch screens. We have chosen to focus on the Kindle Fire in this Hotline, rather than these three traditional e-readers.
