The 3 network in the UK (owned by Hutchison Whampoa) has launched a new post-pay price plan called Mix & Match. The new plan offers customers a high level of flexibility and a choice of five tariffs ranging from £15 to £39 per month. The monthly cost includes the price of the handset and varies according to the device chosen.
For example, an Nokia N95 with the lowest tier 300 minutes / text bundle costs £27 a month compared to £15 a month for the same tariff with the Sony Ericsson K610i, Sony Ericsson Z610i, Nokia 6151 or Nokia 6288.
The five tariffs are available with 300, 500, 700, 900 or 1100 “units” and customers can use their allocation of “units” as either texts or minutes (one “unit” equals one text message or one voice minute). Customers on all tariffs also receive 300 free minutes to other 3 users, free voicemail, free Instant Messaging via Windows Live or Yahoo!, free eBay access and unlimited Skype calls.
